To be eligible to participate in the Junior Coaching program, applicants must be 15 yrs or older.
The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity for applicants to be mentored and gain coaching experience, meanwhile gaining volunteer hours that may be required by their school or other affiliations.
Players will be matched with a Head coach in the Tadpole or Mosquito Division. Junior Coaches will be expected to make 1 practice a week and 2 games per month (or 6 session per month. In the tadpole division they tend to combine practice and game sessions).
Junior Coaches are encouraged complete their Baseball Level 1 theory. This is an online course which takes 2-3 hrs to complete. AMBA will cover the fees to complete the course.
The Junior Coaching program’s intent is to assist the Head Coach. Jr. Coaches will not be allowed to, or be expected to, run a practice or game without the approved coaches being on the field.
The Junior Coaching program runs during the spring baseball season (April through mid-June).
At the end of the season, a reference letter will be written by the AMBA volunteer coordinator, indicating the hours that the player has allocated to the Jr. Coaching program, and will also outline their performance and contribution as a Jr. Coach to their assigned team.
